Tumbling Dumplings

Every time I visit bf's family, I try to bring something I made. I decided to bring dumplings during my latest visit. This is actually a variation of lumpiang shanghai that Filipinos really love. 

Here are the ingredients for my tumbling dumplings:

1/2 kg ground pork
1 carrot, shredded
1 potato, shredded
onion, minced
garlic, minced
1 tbsp ground black pepper
1 cup bread crumbs
1 egg
1 tbsp sesame oil
round dumpling wrappers
salt to taste

As I mentioned earlier, this is a variation of lumpiang shanghai. Instead of using lumpia wrapper, I used dumpling wrapper. The additional ingredients are bread crumbs and sesame oil. There are many kinds of bread crumbs in the market and there are really fine ones, but I used this one. 


Just mix all ingredients well, except of course for the dumpling wrapper. The mixture should look like this.


Last summer, I bought a dumpling maker (not sure how it is called) and it makes wrapping the dumplings a lot easier. Just put enough amount of the mixture, a teaspoon will do, in the wrapper and put it in the dumpling maker. Be careful with the amount of mixture you put. Too much of it will cause the wrapper to tear.


Press the dumpling maker lightly to seal the dumpling. 


You can either steam the dumplings or deep fry them. I love steamed dumplings more.
